Children’s Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

Your child is at risk for cavities if they’re old enough to have teeth – which is usually around six months. Regular checkups and cleanings are a must for ensuring that tooth decay and other oral health issues are dealt with quickly. We can also check for developmental issues during these regular appointments.

Age One Visit

Some parents don’t start bringing their children to the dentist until around the age of five, and by that point cavities and other oral health issues may have already started to form. Scheduling a dental visit around your child’s first birthday will help ensure that their smile is off to a great start. We can check for potential problems and help you develop a health care plan to keep their teeth as safe as possible in the long run.

Dental Sealants

We recommend dental sealants be placed as soon as your child receives their first and second molars. A sealant acts as a shield against the debris that can cause cavities, and they can provide this protection for many years while your child improves their brushing and flossing skills.

Fluoride Treatment

Your child can get the fluoride they need to strengthen their enamel from certain foods, a variety of oral hygiene products, and (usually) the local water supply. In cases where they don’t get enough fluoride, though, we can increase their resistance against cavities with the application of fluoride gel during a routine appointment.

Athletic Mouthguards

Your child should never head out onto the field without a properly fitted mouthguard. These special oral appliances protect the teeth, jaw, and facial muscles from sudden impact during sports or other physical activities where your little one might get hit in the mouth. Our mouthguards are customizable for maximum comfort and can be designed to match your child’s team or school colors.

Frenectomies/Lip & Tongue Tie

Lip-tie and tongue-tie often go overlooked at first, but if your child isn’t able to move their tongue or lips properly, they could have trouble while breastfeeding or experience various developmental issues later in life. We can remove a very small portion of overgrown tissue from your little one’s mouth to free up their movements.

Pulp Therapy

Call us right away if your child starts to regularly suffer from dental pain and sensitivity that seemingly comes from nowhere. It could be a sign of damaged pulp, which can easily lead to premature tooth loss if not treated. Pulp therapy allows us to remove the portions of the pulp that have been damaged before we fully restore your little one’s smile.

Sedation Dentistry for Children

It is perfectly normal for your child to be nervous or anxious before a dental appointment. To make sure that these fears do not get in the way of a great visit, we can use safe, comfortable sedation dentistry to put your child in a relaxed state during their treatment.
